2 weeks down!

This is just to give everyone an idea of how these kids live. They're all happy and smiling in the pictures, but they really do have some rough living situations. They wear the same clothes a lot and often with holes and things. I have no idea how often they get to bathe, these are Alfredo's feet.

This is a little girl named Kenia from the IHNFA.

Internet is running well right now so I’m gonna try to put some more pics up! First big news for me was that Sunday night we had PIZZA for dinner!!!!!!!!! NO BEANS INVOLVED!!! I mean it was homemade pizza, and far from anything special, but to me it was amazing! I actually felt really full which hasn’t happened in a while J

Jessica being here now is also really nice! Just someone to help translate things for me and explain what’s going on… I’ve actually found out a lot already! First of all she told me she never eats dinner here at the Hogar with all the kids. She doesn’t think the food is all that great so she usually just makes spaghetti or mac and cheese after they’re done eating; it’s simple and quick but that sounds great to me! Just being able to cook something somewhere J Packages from her friends and family have always made it down here so that’s a good sign, though they can take a month to arrive. She also said she doesn’t really hang out with the kids at the Hogar all the time, and I have been. But it’s really tiring so that’s nice to know that I can take some more of a break time if I want to and it’s not an issue. She said don’t worry about helping in the kitchen, the kids take care of all the cooking and cleaning. She also explained a bit more of what the regular schedule at the IHNFA is like- which sounded great to me since it’s kinda just been everyone do whatever whenever.

Hard part is she’s already completely fluent in Spanish, so I’m still the only one struggling here. But maybe she can help me learn a bit too. The biggest thing I have to think about right now is that school starts in a few weeks and they want me to teach English there because Jessica did last semester and really didn’t like it. I’d teach from every morning from 8-12 and then go to the IHNFA for the afternoon. I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea though she said it’s REALLY hard. My selfish thought is that I won’t learn as much Spanish by teaching. But I need to remember that I’m here to help out wherever needed, first and foremost, and if it’s with teaching then so be it. She said take some time to think and pray about it so that’s what I’ll do.

P.S. Successful shower this morning! Under 5 mins so I didn’t lose the power and have to get ready in the dark like yesterday J
